The Saint-Etienne defense is taking shape! If Jimmy Giraudon passes his medical examination, his future friend from Nîmes Anthony Briançon is now signing with ASSE! The 27-year-old French central defender is signing up for 3 seasons at Saint-Étienne.
While he spent the season recovering from knee surgery, former Nîmes captain Anthony Briançon signs with ASSE until 2025. Reliable stopper, he came back at the very end of the season and did not seem limited. Always as imposing in defense, his aggressiveness and his leadership have made him a central essential in Ligue 2, for several seasons already.
Tipped to be recruited by the Greens for a few weeks already, Briançon spoke on the official ASSE website: “I am very proud to join AS Saint-Étienne. It’s a mythical club, I can’t wait to take up this magnificent challenge because the place of the Greens is in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. I can’t wait to start this season “I’m fresh, mentally and physically. I can’t wait to meet all my teammates and one of the best audiences in France.”
If the defender seems delighted to have signed with ASSE, his new coach, Laurent Batlles, also appears cheerful about this recruitment: “Anthony Briançon knows Ligue 2 BKT well, he is an experienced player, a leader of men. Athletically and technically, he is a high quality footballer. Anthony is a real leader, he will be important on and off ground.”
